What is Blood & Water?
Blood & Water is a young adult fantasy series set in a post-apocalyptic world, roughly 300 years after the [RAMPSPOED]. The series combines science fantasy with spiritual elements and follows characters navigating newly developed powers in a divided world. The first book, Inner Fire, tells the story of Justin, who wakes without memories and discovers he possesses a power that could mean either salvation or danger.
How many books will be in the series?
The series is planned as 4 books. The first two books are published at the end of 2026 in Dutch, with the third installment following in 2027. The first book in English will be released end of 2026.
The complete series tells one overarching story with a clear beginning and end, while each book also has its own self-contained story arc.
In what order should I read the books?
Start with Inner Fire (Book 1). The books build on each other, and it’s important to read them in chronological order for the best understanding of the world and character development.
Who is this series written for?
Blood & Water is written for young adults aged 16-27, but it’s also accessible to older readers who enjoy fantasy. The series includes action scenes, complex moral dilemmas, and emotional themes, but no explicit content. It’s comparable in tone to series like The Hunger Games or Divergent.

What is the Double Death?
The Double Death was a global disaster that struck shortly after 2030, combining a series of pandemics with a nuclear war that saw major nations destroy one another. The event changed the world forever. Humanity split into different groups: some fled to bunkers (the Collective), others developed powers (Leviathans and Lightbringers), and others tried to survive in the ruined world outside
How does the magic system work?
The magic system in Blood & Water is spiritually layered, built around two opposing forces:
Creation Force: Connected to the True Light, this force springs from inner awareness and asks no price. Only those who fully accept themselves can connect with it.
Shadow Force: The same underlying energy, but used for personal gain. This force always demands a price — exhaustion, loss, or something precious.
Some characters have physical abilities, others have telepathic connections or spiritual power.
What are Lightbringers?
Lightbringers are individuals connected to the True Light who can use the Creation Force. Nidra, one of the main characters, is a Lightbringer. They use their abilities to help others and are guided by intuition and inner knowing.
What are Leviathans?
Leviathans are people who changed after the [RAMPSPOED] and developed powers. Characters like Levi, Leo, and Hakan belong to this group. They’re stronger and faster than ordinary people, and some have developed specific abilities. Leviathans have their own culture and often live in groups (clans).
What is the Collective?
The Collective consists of people who prepared before the Double Death and survived in deep bunkers in the mountains. They’ve built their own society and are deeply distrustful of outsiders.

Who is Justin?
Justin is the protagonist of Inner Fire. He’s found without memories by Nidra and soon discovers he possesses a power that could be dangerous to everyone around him. His journey centers on discovering who he is and what his role is in this divided world.
Do I need to already like fantasy to enjoy Blood & Water?
Not necessarily! While Blood & Water is fantasy, it’s set in a recognizable, post-apocalyptic world that feels like a possible future of our own. If you love stories with strong characters, moral dilemmas, and a gripping plot, this series is for you, even if you don’t usually read fantasy.
Is there romance in the series?
The series focuses primarily on character development, friendship, and the struggle between good and evil. Romance plays a role, but it’s not the main theme. Relationships develop organically within the story.
